Trezu Team
Guide

For everyday operations – like submitting a contractor invoice or approving a routine software subscription – everyday wallets (like mobile wallets, or browser extension) strike the right balance between safety and ease of use.
To keep your daily operations moving quickly, Trezu seamlessly integrates with Meteor Wallet, a popular and battle-tested wallet in NEAR Protocol. Here is how to set it up and use it to manage your team’s capital.
What is Meteor Wallet
Meteor Wallet is a popular, browser-based wallet designed for everyday use. It is:
Fast: No desktop apps to download; it works directly in your browser.
User-friendly: A simple interface for sending, receiving, and signing proposals.
Non-custodial: You maintain complete control over your own keys.
Trezu-compatible: Fully integrated for smooth treasury operations.
When Should I Use Meteor Wallet?
Because Meteor Wallet lives in your browser, it is incredibly fast to use, but it is inherently more exposed to the internet than an offline hardware wallet. This makes it a great match for daily payment roles, but it is not recommended for managing core rules:
Perfect for Requestors: Ideal for team members or contractors who need to draft invoices, propose multichain swaps, or submit budget requests quickly.
Perfect for the Finance Role: Ideal for Operations and Finance Leads who need to review and approve routine weekly payments or bulk payroll with minimal friction.
Not Recommended for Governance: The Governance role controls the core rules of your treasury. Because of its ability to change voting thresholds and add members, you should rarely assign Governance to a browser wallet. Leave Governance to your Ledger.
How to Use Meteor Wallet on Trezu
Step 1: Create a Meteor Wallet
If you do not have one already, setting up a Meteor Wallet takes just a few minutes:
Go to wallet.meteorwallet.app.
Click Create New Wallet.
Choose a strong password (this encrypts your wallet locally in your browser).
Back up your recovery phrase: Write down the 12 words and store them securely. (Important: Your recovery phrase is the only way to restore your wallet. Never share it with anyone, and never store it digitally).
Confirm the recovery phrase to verify you saved it correctly.
Your wallet is now ready. Trezu features zero setup fees, so you do not even need to fund your new wallet to create your treasury.
Step 2: Connect Meteor to Trezu
Connecting with to your shared treasury with Meteor is simple:
Go to trezu.app and click Connect Wallet.
Select Meteor Wallet from the list of available connection options.
The Meteor extension will pop up on your screen asking you to confirm the connection to Trezu. Click Approve. (Note: This simply verifies your identity and allows you to view the dashboard; it does not give Trezu permission over the account or its funds).
Security Best Practices
While browser wallets are designed for convenience, practicing good operational hygiene helps protect your team's capital:
Bookmark Official URLs: The simplest way to prevent phishing attacks is to bookmark Trezu and the official Meteor Wallet sites. Always use your bookmarks rather than clicking links from search engines or unsolicited direct messages.
Role Separation: Do not use the exact same Meteor account for your personal activities (like trading) and your company's Trezu Finance role. Meteor allows you to create multiple accounts within the same wallet – create a dedicated account strictly for your Trezu operations.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If you run into friction while using a browser wallet, check these common culprits:
Meteor pop-up not appearing: Check your browser's pop-up blockers. You may also need to temporarily disable other extensions that might interfere.
Wallet won't connect: Try refreshing the page, clearing your browser cache, or switching to Chrome or Brave (which typically offer the best extension compatibility).
"Transaction Failed": If you are trying to approve a proposal and it fails, double-check that your Meteor wallet holds a tiny fraction of network tokens to cover the blockchain gas fee.
Can't see your treasury: If you log in but your dashboard is empty, verify that you are connected with the correct Meteor account, and confirm with your team that your exact wallet address has been added as a member by a Governance admin.
